Cleveland Police Department Officer, Jonathan Schroeder, who was shot and killed in the line of duty, while attempting to serve a warrant.
On August 30, 2006 Vice Detective Jonathan "AJ" Schroeder, a 10 year veteran, and other officers were attempting to serve a warrant for rape and burglary on a suspect when the suspect opened fire with a handgun. One round struck Det. Schroeder in the shoulder area not protected by his vest. Detective Schroeder was taken for medical treatment and succumbed to his wound on August 31, 2006
The suspect was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Murder.
Detective Schroeder is survived by his wife and young son.
